Eddy Cameron Labor Day Weekend, 2010
This is inspired by a beverage had at the Elko, NV restaurant “The Star”. This is a Basque beverage that comes with the warning, “It’s strong!”. Thank you to my dear friends Rob & Gracie for introducing us to excellent food at this place and a very unique drink. We now make them in Reno for our own little happy hours.
- 2 ½ ounces of Torani Amer*
- ¼ ounce grenadine
- ½ ounce – ¾ ounce of Brandy
- Crushed ice
*Torani Amer is an American produced version of the traditionally French liquor Picon.
Depending on how sweet you like it adjust the grenadine and brandy. Picon (the Torani Amer) is an orange based liquor that is fermented and somewhat bitter, yet tasty. A delicious beverage that reminds me of a Manhattan. So thrilled to have found this little gem! Delicious!
This is what a true Picon looks like, served at The Stars bar
